Gary K. Wertman, 63, of Slatington, died June 14, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a forklift operator for Nestlé Purina, formerly ALPO, South Whitehall Township for 39 years before retiring in 2013.

Born Jan. 16, 1951, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Joyce L. (Kerschner) Wertman.

A member of the Slatington Skeet and Sporting Association, American Legion Post 16, and Moose Lodge 1375, he will be remembered for his warm heart and unconditional love for family and friends.

He lived his love for the outdoors through hunting and fishing.

His survivors include son Brad K. and his wife, Erica, of Whitehall; brother, Richard R. and his companion, Linda of Slatington; sisters Donna L. Knabb and her husband, Steve, of Kutztown, Gail L. Frano and her husband, Steve, of Slatington; nieces and nephews Stacey Warmkessel, Stephen Frano, Lori Gill, Shaun Frano and Shane Jensen.

His funeral service will be 10 a.m. June 19, in Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Al Voorhis officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 9-10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Slatedale Cemetery.
