Charotin Hose Co. Fire Calls

North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following calls recently.

Brush fire

May 8, 3:30 p.m.

Charotin firefighters were dispatched for a brush fire near Willowbrook Golf Course. A controlled burn on the neighboring farm had been reported for that day. All apparatus were held in station while the assistant chiefs investigated. The chiefs confirmed the brush fire was a controlled burn on the farm and was wrapping up. The assignment was recalled.

Carbon monoxide alarm

May 9, 12:17 a.m.

Catasauqua, North Catasauqua and West Catasauqua firefighters were dispatched to 30 Sherman St., Catasauqua, for a carbon monoxide alarm with no reported victims. Shortly after dispatched, the Catasauqua fire chief recalled mutual aid companies.

Smoke in a dwelling

May 11, 4:36 a.m.

Catasauqua, Northampton and Allen Township firefighters responded to a call about smoke in a dwelling at 817 Lincoln Ave., Northampton. The caller reported a light smoke condition and an electrical odor.

Firefighters arrived to an electrical odor with light haze, which continued to dissipate while investigating. Unable to locate the cause after nearly 45 minutes, the residence was turned back over to the residents. They were advised to call 9-1-1 if the smoke condition returned.
