William P. Debus
William P. "Bill" Debus, 56, of Macungie, died June 6, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. He and his wife, Letitia B. (Neil), recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Harold P. and Vera M. (Gilbert) Debus.
He was a 1975 graduate of Emmaus High School and attended the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City where he was the first non-New York City resident to receive a full scholarship. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College in 1981 and his master's degree from DeSales University. Prior to retiring in 2009, he was employed in the construction industry as a materials technician.
A friend of Jordan UCC, he was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Blue Church where he served as president of council and was a choir member. He was a former member of Chestnut Hill Lutheran Church where he was a choir member and nursery Sunday school teacher.
He was an active band parent at Emmaus High School from 2002-2005 and loved playing games with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Laura E. and her husband Horst J. Lehmann, of Coopersburg, Lydia W. and her husband Earl A. Peters, of Emmaus; sister, Judy and her husband Steve Szloboda, of Emmaus; stepsister, Janis Glassmeyer, of Macungie; brother-in-law, Terrence R. Neil, Jr. and his fiancee, Ottie Willoughby, of Macungie; nephews, Steve Szloboda and his wife, Dez, of N.Y., Mark Szloboda, of Emmaus; granddaughters, Erin E. Peters, Elsie J. Lehmann. He was predeceased by stepmother, Eleanor D. (Herring), and infant sister, Kathleen E.
