Sylvia Bieber, 91, of Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville, formerly of Whitehall, died May 17, 2014, in Reading Hospital, West Reading.
She and her husband the Rev. Wallace J. Bieber celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last Oct. 12.
Born Oct. 26, 1922, in Liao Chow, Shansi Provence, China, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Norman A. and Anna (Bowman) Seese.
A graduate of Bridgewater College, Virginia, she earned a bachelor's degree in economics and commerce, and did graduate work at James Madison University, Va.
She was an elementary school teacher in the Lebanon City School, Lebanon, for 26 years before retiring in 1989.
Prior to that, she worked at the Church of the Brethren Headquarters in Elgin, Ill. for eight years.
She was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, where she was a member of the craft group.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by several nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws.
She was predeceased by siblings Norman A. Jr., Lyman, Margaret Dean and Patricia Heiney.
