Rusnock honored as scholar athlete

Senior Jacob Rusnock was honored, along with the other Lehigh Valley school's nominees, at the District 11 Wrestling Scholar Athlete Banquet at the Lehigh Valley Best Western recently.

This year's AA scholar athlete scholarship winner was Joshua Evans of Palmerton and the AAA winner was Tyler Tarsi of Nazareth.

Rusnock's essay on "What wrestling means to me" was selected as one of the top-four essays.

Rusnock is ranked third out of 119 with a grade point average of 99.83. He was a four-year letterwinner in wrestling and finished his career with a record of 107-49, becoming the 14th wrestler in school history to reach 100 career wins. This past season he was named to Colonial League first team at 132 pounds, finished fourth at districts and sixth at regionals, falling one win shy of qualifying for the state tournament.

The Roughie senior is the President of the National Honor Society, Varsity "C" Club Treasurer, Class of 2014 Treasurer, Secretary of SADD, a member of student council and student forum.

Rusnock is currently participating in the Lehigh University Scholars Program. He also participated in cross country and track and field.

Rusnock has not yet decided on his college choice. He is currently considering Lehigh University and Bucknell University.
