Wayne J. Greenawalt

Wayne J. Greenawalt, 92, of New Tripoli, died May 24, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

He and his wife Shirley M.(Phillips) Greenawalt celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last June.

Born in Albany Township, he was a son of the late Howard S. and Maude E. (Dietrich) Greenawalt.

He was the owner of the former Wayne J. Greenawalt General Contracting Co., New Tripoli, for approximately 50 years before retiring in 1999.

He honorably served his country during World War II, as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps.

A member and former councilman and cemetery board member of Jacob's Church, Jacksonville, Lynn Township, he was also a member of the Lynnport and New Tripoli fire companies, the Kempton Rod and Gun Club, as well as a life member of the Kempton Fire Company and a former member of the Kempton Lions Club.

He was also a former board member of the Kempton Community Center.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Kevin W. and his wife Patricia, Robert J. and his wife Kay, Michael R. and Scott H., all of New Tripoli and granddaughters, Katelyn and Mckenzie.

He was predeceased by sisters Anna Kunkel and Roma Feinour.

His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. May 31, in Jacob's Church, 8373 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, with a calling hour beginning 9:30 a.m.

The Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will take place in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church and/or to the Lynnport Fire Company, P.O. Box 14, New Tripoli, PA 18066.
