North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following calls recently.
Gas leak
May 2. 1:56 p.m.
North Catasauqua and Catasauqua firefighters were dispatched to a natural gas leak in the 400 block of Milton Street, Catasauqua. The caller had said she removed an old gas heater and it is now leaking gas.
Firefighters did find natural gas in the basement. They shut down the gas supply and ventilated the residence. UGI was contacted and requested to and did arrive on the scene.
Fire alarm
May 2, 4:57 p.m.
Charotin and Catasauqua firefighters to an automatic fire alarm at Cambridge Day School, 325 Lehigh St., Catasauqua. When a Catasauqua deputy chief arrived on the scene, he reported a false manual pull by a child at the day care. All responding units were recalled and companies returned.
Automatic alarm
May 8, 7:25 a.m.
Catasauqua and North Catasauqua fire departments were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at Flores Air Conditioning, 259 Race St., Catasauqua. Police on the scene reported the alarm had been tripped by food in a toaster oven, and units were recalled.
