Richard E. Wagner

Richard "Dick" E. Wagner, 88, died May 7, 2014, in Westminster Village, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. (Leiby) Wagner for 63 years.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Dr. Floyd N. and Nydia L. (Wallen) Wagner. He was a sonar man with U.S. Navy during World War II.

He earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Lafayette College in 1950.

He was a supervisor for the Bethlehem Steel engineering department for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He was an adjunct professor at Northampton County Community College for nine years, and a visiting lector and adjunct professor at Lafayette College.

He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown, where he earlier served on the congregational council.

He was a Cub pack committee leader at Midway Manor Moravian Church. He was a member of the Bethlehem Steel Club. He was a member of Harold L. Peter American Legion Post 576 in Allentown, the U.S.S. Firedrake Association, the AE Sailor Association, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel golf league and the Split Rock Club.

He is survived by three children, John F. and his wife Nancy Baran of Princeton Junction, N.J., Carol L. and her husband Raymond Reppert of Allentown and Richard C. and his wife Catherine of Montrose, Colo.; six grandchildren Elizabeth, Matthew, Jonathan, Michael, William and Andrew; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Henry, Emily and Natalie.
