A 28-year-old Bethlehem man died after being struck by a vehicle just before 3 p.m. May 13 on Route 22, South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County First Deputy Coroner Eric D. Minnich said.
Minnich said Shane Uttard, of 1527 6th St., was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Daniel Buglio at the scene.
State Police Troop M Bethlehem say Brian J. Creazzo, 40, of Bethlehem, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 pickup north on Route 309 attempting to merge onto Route 22 East when the truck hit Uttard, who was standing at the rear of his 2001 Buick Lesabre, parked on the right shoulder. According to police, Creazzo failed to merge into the right lane of Route 22.
His truck crossed the white fog line and struck the rear of the car.
Cetronia volunteer firefighters and ambulance corps, State Police Troop M Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist and Forensic Services units, Lehigh County's District Attorney and coroner's offices and Hausers Towing assisted at the scene.
