'We are here for the locals'

Front Street can now claim it offers a new business.

The Front Street Food & Tobacco Shop held its grand opening recently.

Ajay Dawar of Northampton is no stranger to operating a small business. He has been managing them for the past 15 years.

The business is family run. Assisting in its operations are wife Rimmi, daughters Jagriti and Kripa, son Jay and parents Dev and Amrit.

Dawar said the shop focuses strictly on customer service. He said Catasauqua and North Catasauqua residents will find what they need at the Front Street Food & Tobacco Shop. In addition to grocery items, Dawar also makes fresh hoagies to order using DiLusso meats.

"We are always coming up with new ideas for improvements," he said. "Anything the customer needs, we will get it for them."

Dawar said so far he has enjoyed operating his business in Catasauqua.

"Catty is a good town," he said. "We are here for the locals."

Rimmi Dawar said their business offers specials deals on a regular basis.

"Every week we have different coupons," she said.

The shop accepts WIC and SNAP payments.

She said she hopes more borough residents will patronize their business.

"Catty is a great town, but we need more people and more local support," she said.

The Front Street Food & Tobacco Shop is open daily, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Sunday. The business is located next to Mike's Auto Service, at 511 Front St.
