Laverne S. Hunsicker, 72, of Kutztown, formerly of Germansville, died May 11, 2014, in Washington Township, while fishing.

He was the husband of the late Patricia (Barry) and the late Patricia A. (Steigerwalt) Hunsicker.

Born Jan. 24, 1942, in Heidelberg Township, he was the son of the late Sterling R. and Lula J. (Reitz) Hunsicker.

He was a school bus driver for First Student Bus Co., East Penn School District, since 2010.

Prior to that, he was a truck driver at Raymour & Flanigan Furniture from 2000-10 and a pipefitter and heavy crane operator at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. from 1961-98.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kutztown.

An avid outdoorsman, his passion was fishing.

His survivors include sons, Christopher S. and his companion, Patty Hall of Allentown, Randy R. and his wife, Robin, of Cascade, Va.; siblings Doreen B. Reinert and her husband, Sterling, of Slatington, Marlene C. Hunsicker of Schnecksville, Dennis R. and his wife, Beverly, and David R. Hunsicker and his wife, Barbara, all of Germansville; grandchildren Dwight and Addyson; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. May 15, in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. James R. Hammond officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 9-11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at New Bethel Zion Cemetery Association, Kutztown.
