Henry C.L. Kunkle

Henry C.L. Kunkle, 59, of Kempton, died May 7, 2014, while working in Picayune, Miss.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of Esther (Snyder) Kunkel, a resident of Cedarbrook, South Whitehall, and the late Wayne H. Kunkel.

A 1973 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, New Tripoli, he was the owner/operator of KTD Express Inc., Kempton, working as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 40 years.

He received the National Transportation Agency Award for One Million and Three Million Accident Free Miles.

A racing enthusiast, he raced car no. 71 in the street stock division, at Dorney Park Raceway, South Whitehall, from 1977-83.

He is survived by daughters Kelly K. Schaeffer, companion of Darryl L. Mills of Kempton, Tracy L., wife of Christopher J. Hunt, Landisburg, Perry County; sister Diane, wife of Fred Folland of Germansville; granddaughter Karlee Lynn Schaeffer and her father, Michael C. Schaeffer of Kutztown; and his best friend and ex-wife, Darlene C. (Strunk) Kun-kel of Shoemakersville.

He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. May 16, in Ludwick Funeral Homes Inc., 333 Greenwich St., Kutztown, with the Rev. Arthur L. Hahn, officiating.

Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends may call 10-11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
