Arjay R. Frantz, Jr., 71, of Slatington, died May 8, 2014 in his home.

He and his wife Bernice E. (Bakley) Frantz celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last Oct. 28.

Born June 13, 1942, in Allentown, he was the son of Grace M. (Phillips) Frantz of Northampton and the late Arjay R. Frantz Sr.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.

Employed at Nestlé Purina Pet Care, South Whitehall Township, he was a maintenance mechanic there for 32 years before retiring in 2009.

Prior to that, he was an over-the-road trucker for 12 years.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Ann Grim of Schnecksville; son Arjay R. III and his companion, Randi Kauffman of Hamburg; brothers Richard A. Frantz of Hackensack, N.J., and Harley Frantz of Northampton; grandchildren Justin, Nicholas, Devon, Riley and Jacob.

He was predeceased by sisters Susan Frantz and Pamela Ross.
