Three take 2nd on day one

Three Catasauqua seniors earned silver medals at the first day of the Colonial League track and field championships, held Tuesday at Whitehall High School.

Ty Kern (pole vault), Paryss Marshall (high jump) and Trinity Henderson (shot put) all took second place in their events Tuesday.

Kern equaled the 12-foot, 9-inch pole vault of winner Darris Rodriguez of Palmerton. But the Blue Bomber made his on an earlier attempt to earn the gold.

Marshall cleared six feet for the high jump silver medal, coming one inch short of the first-place leap made by Palmerton's Spencer Hay.

Henderson threw the shot put 36-11 for second place as Southern Lehigh's Brianna Prince won the event at 38-4 3/4.

Other Rough Rider's in the top five on the meet's first day were junior Dakota Zelinsky and Richard Houser.

Zelinsky took third place in discus with a throw of 92-2. Houser was fifth in triple jump at 43-1.
