City: Pools open, camp starts in June

The City of Bethlehem's annual four two-week sessions summer day camp will begin June 16 at the Ice Rink,Illick's Mill Road. The camp, for boys and girls ages seven to 12, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Activities include swimming including lessons, arts and crafts, sports, games and special events.There is a cost.

The week long Adventure Camp for youth ages 13 to15 starts June 16. Space is limited.

The free supervised playground programs run from June 16 to August 1at various parks throughout the city.

The annual Float Your Boat competition will be held in July. Contestants build boats out of cardboard and race them at Memorial Pool.

The City of Bethlehem operates six public pools, all of which will open for the summer on June 7. Daily rates and season passes are available. Pool hours and rates vary by location.

Swimming lessons are offered for pre-school (ages four and five) and youth (ages six and up) in a group format. Adult, semi-private and private lessons are also available based on interest. Class sizes are limited;registrations are on a first come, first serve basis.
