Nelson W. Heffelfinger, 78, of Northampton, died April 19, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Dolores (Pfeiffer) Heffelfinger for 50 years.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Howard and Grace (Dettmer) Heffelfinger.
He was an SP4 in the U.S. Army.
He was a roadmaster for Mahoning Township for five years, retiring in in 2008. Prior to that, he worked in the same capacity for West Rockhill and Springfield townships. He also worked as roadmaster and supervisor for Allen Township for 25 years. He and his wife owned and operated Hillside Drive In and Golf Course, Northampton. Before that, he worked at Coca–Cola Company, Allentown. He was the former owner of the Hillside Restaurant, Danielsville.
He was a member of the Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, Northampton; and Ranger Lake and Grouse Hall, both of Coplay. He was a member of the Allen Township Volunteer Fire Company and the American Legion Post 945.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Grace and her husband Keith Kern of Lehighton, Tina and her husband Chris Biery of Northampton, and Lisa and her husband Shane Gagliardi of Bulmida, Australia; a son, Howard and his wife Karen of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Katie, Nicholas, Joshua, Jacob, Logan, Kathryn, Lucy and Belle; nieces; and nephews.
