LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Moravian Academy news: Events aplenty

As the warm weather finally arrives, Moravian's community is becoming increasingly busy. After battling a tough beginning due to inclement weather, the spring sports season is completely underway now. Our teams have had overall success, with the tennis team maintaining an undefeated record. This week the three singles players, Zach Shaff ('16), myself (Madhav Sekar '16), and Adam Kramer ('15) will be participating in the District XI AA Singles Championship.

In the fine arts world, Moravian just hosted its first ever Red and Gold Dance recital. Moravian's colors are red and gold, which is why it is included in the name. For years, the school has hosted a Red and Gold Music Recital, where students can exhibit their musical skills on the violin or piano. This year, the theater and music department decided to do the same event with dance, which resulted in a fantastic showing of the school's extremely talented dancers. In addition, this weekend the school's production of "Our Town" will be held. If previous Moravian plays and musicals are any indicator, this production of a renowned drama will surely be amazing.

Many seniors have now committed to colleges; therefore many of them are increasingly becoming less enthusiastic about school. With classes for seniors ending May 9, the light at the end of the tunnel is basically blinding them. Following the end of classes, the seniors will partake in a post-term project. The goal of this project is to do some sort of work at a company or organization that relates to one's career goals and educational interests. Some students will be shadowing doctors, whereas others will be helping out at financial or engineering firms. After post-term, all that is left is graduation, which will take place May 31. We seniors have just a little bit over a month until we are no longer high school students.

Apart from graduation, May is also quite a busy month. Many students will be taking Advanced Placement (AP) exams at the beginning of May. It is unfortunate that so much arduous studying must happen while the same time could be spent enjoying the beautiful weather. Also, towards the end of May and beginning of June the underclassmen will have to prepare for their final exams. May will also be the month of playoff seasons for many of the sports teams. Many students will have to balance their hectic sports schedules with their academic requirements.

Overall, the last month of the school year brings quite a few important events for every student at Moravian. While students will want to relax as it starts to feel like summer, they will have to focus and finish the school year strong. But just like years past, this year will finish in a great way for the school and all its students.
