Apartment fire
March 29, 2:36 p.m.
North Catasauqua Fire Department firefighters responded with the Catasauqua Fire Department for a reported apartment building fire at 118 Bridge St., Catasauqua at 2:36 p.m.
The caller had reported a dryer fire on the fourth floor.
Firefighters arrived and found an overheated belt in an overloaded washing machine. There was not a fire.
Firefighters set up multiple fans to ventilate the light smoke condition and the malfunctioning machine was turned over to the building maintenance personnel and firefighters cleared the scene.
Structure fire
March 26, 6:24 p.m.
Firefighters responded with the Northampton Fire Department for a reported commercial structure fire at Green Star Recycling, 799 Smith Lane, Northampton. The caller reported a fire in the bag house.
Personnel arrived on location to find a fire in the trash compactor inside the facility that extended to a dumpster. They stretched two lines and established a water supply from a hydrant on the recycling plant's grounds. The fire was knocked down quickly with extensive overhaul.
Also on the assignment was Northampton Regional and Allen EMS, and fire departments from Allen Township, East Allen and Lehigh Township.
SMOKE IN A DWELLING
MARCH 26, 9:44 P.M.
North Catasauqua and Catasauqua Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of smoke in a dwelling at 426 Bridge St., Catasauqua. The caller reported hearing electrical pops in the basement. North Catasauqua Firefighters stood by the hydrant at Howertown Road and Bridge Street. The incident was investigated and brought under control by the Catasauqua Fire Department.
