Salisbury residents asked to attend May 5 school budget meeting

The Salisbury Township School District administration team will present its public presentation of the proposed 2014-2015 budget at the 7 p.m. May 5 meeting and residents are asked to attend.

School board members will hear the administration's recommendations at the same time as the residents at this meeting held at the administration building.

Board members want to hear from residents on the proposed budget.

The proposed final budget is expected to be adopted at the May 14 meeting.

Western Salisbury Elementary is hosting a curriculum, technology and art night May 5. If you have a student at WSE, the art show is a great time to walk the halls and check out the work of the talented artists in our school.

WSE is holding its field day for grades one and two 1:30 to 3 p.m. May 8. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the fun activities.

The Salisbury Middle School spring concert will be held 7 p.m. May 7.

The Salisbury High School spring choral and instrumental concert will be held 7 p.m. May 13.

May 13 is also fourth quarter mid-marking for SMS and SHS.

There is a curriculum and technology committee meeting 7 p.m. May 12 and a school board meeting May 14, both at the administration building.

The 15th annual Frank Yelinko Memorial Golf Tournament will be held 8 a.m. May 10 at Allentown Municipal Golf Course. Yelinko was an English teacher, head baseball coach for 29 years and head basketball coach for seven years at SHS. For information on playing or sponsorship, email Monica Deeb at mdeeb@ stsd.org.

For those of you ready to start planting your spring flowers or garden, visit the Salisbury High School website and print out a sheet of fundraiser tickets in support of the Salisbury music programs. You can hand in one ticket with a minimum purchase and with every ticket turned in, the music department receives a small donation. Thank you in advance for everyone who helps.

I know this is a little premature, but it could be useful for people who like to schedule vacation at the end of the summer. The calendar has been released for the 2014-2015 school year. Orientation day for kindergarten, first, sixth and ninth graders is Aug. 25, with all students reporting for class Aug. 26. Just putting it out there.

The Devonshire drop off will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 3 and 6. Evening hours are 3 to 6 p.m. May 8 and 12.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host their monthly breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. May 10. A donation is suggested, with all proceeds benefitting the 275th anniversary celebration.
