LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

LHS girls drop 2 meets

Liberty High School's girls track and field team lost two meets last week, one to Emmaus, 84-57, and one to Nazareth, 76-65, while winning their share of top three finishes.

Aleesha Gordon took third place in the 100 dash, and the 400 dash. Jaylyn Aminu placed second in the 200 dash, and Raisa Kochmaruk won the 3200 with a time of 11:52.

Casey Harewood took second place in the 100 hurdles, and Rashana Tomkins was third in the 300 hurdles.

Sydney Wilson placed second in the shot put, and Faith Jallah placed third in the same event. Wilson then took first place in the discus with a distance of 83-8.

Teammate, Nicole Capuano, won the javelin with a distance of 96-0.

"Today, I was feeling good. The weather threw me off a little bit. I'm working on focusing before my event and not getting side-tracked," Capuano said.

Capuano's best distance is 109, which she hit this season.

"Typically, it's on my first throw. My coach noticed if I don't have a good first throw, it puts me in a bad mood. This year, I want to hit the state mark, 122 feet. I'm 14 feet away. I'm confident. Hopefully, I'll get there with the coaching we have and the good weather," said Capuano.

Kay West placed first in the long jump with a distance of 16-8, Gabby Pastor placed third in the triple jump, and Harewood won the high jump with a height of 5-1.
