LHS Alumni Day to be held
Liberty High School will hold their second annual LHS Alumni Day on Saturday May 3 at the school's campus.
The day is used to help celebrate Liberty's past, present and future, inciting alumni and members of the community to take part in the event.
Liberty alumni are invited to attend an Alumni Luncheon, tour the LHS Campus, learn about the clubs and activities at the school and see performances of the Liberty Grenadier Band, the Alumni Band, and attend the free Orchestra Pops Concert at 3:00 pm.
Former Liberty football standout and University of Pittsburgh wide receiver Devin Street may make an appearance if his schedule permits.
Street, a 2009 graduate of Liberty, is slated to be selected next week in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Athletic Director Fred Harris couldn't confirm if Street would be in attendance, but assured that the day would be a great way for everyone to celebrate Liberty High School.
"This is about helping reconnect the alumni with the past and showcasing what Liberty has to offer to the community," said Harris. "We're hoping that alumni from all over can come and celebrate the day with us. We don't know if Devin [Street] is going to have time to attend, but we hope that he'll be able to make it."
Harris said the bulk of the activities will take place between 4-6 pm, with the traditional "Passing of the Bell" ceremony taking place at 6:15pm. Graduating seniors will welcome incoming 9th graders to their new school and encourage the incoming freshman class to take advantage of all of the wonderful programs and activities Liberty High School offers its students.
The day will conclude with a community fair and bonfire, as well as live musical entertainment.
All are invited to congratulate the graduating Class of 2014 and take the opportunity to thank them and celebrate their achievements and contributions to Liberty and the community.
"We hope to see as many people here for the event," Harris said. "It's going to a great day for the community."
