The Parkland Trojans are one of three schools to put all three of its singles players into the District 11 Tennis Tournament this year. Nick Kshatri, Pete Harrison and Nate Lyman are all in the tournament, with Kshatri being the number four seed. Harrison and Lyman are unseeded. It's the second season in a row that Kshatri is seeded fourth. Last season he went all the way to the quarterfinals. Harrison also played in the tournament last season, but was eliminated in the first round.

Coach Mike Hingston was hoping for a higher seed for Kshatri, but understands why he picked up the fourth seed and also believes his other two players are good enough to have merited potentially being seeded as well.

"Nick Kshatri is good enough to merit a higher seed, but it's hard to argue with the three above him," said Hingston. "Andrew Sinai (Freedom) and Matt FitzMaurice (Emmaus) are returning as district champion and runner-up, respectively, and the third seed, Jon White, from Pleasant Valley, is 14-0.

"Pete Harrison and Nate Lyman are capable of beating just about anyone, but they only seed eight players so getting number two and number three players seeded is difficult."

The top four seeds are all the same players as last season, but in a slightly different order. Sinai remains the top seed, while FitzMaurice and White flip-flopped seeds this year, with FitzMaurice taking over White's number two spot.

With three players in the tournament, the potential for teammates squaring off against each other is a possibility. Of course, the matchup could happen in the finals, but another possibility is that Kshatri and Lyman could meet in the quarterfinals if both win their first two matches.

"That would make for an interesting match," said Hingston. "They play each other in practice all the time and they recently played in the semifinals of the Phoenixville Tournament. Nick won in straight sets and went on to win the championship match against the number one singles player from West Chester East."
