Robert L. Walters
Robert L. Walters, 82, of Macun-gie, died April 12, 2014, at home. He was the husband of the late Helen M. (Bradley) Bringhurst Walters of Macungie. Born in Upper Hanover Township, he was the son of the late Stella (Miller) Smith.
He was a 1949 graduate of Pennsburg High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a radio man on the U.S.S. Rolette in the Mediterranean during the Korean conflict.
He then worked as a machinist at U.S. Gauge, Sellersville, until retiring.
He was active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America Valley Forge Council and was Cubmaster of Pack #3591 and Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster and committee member of Troop #591 at St. Philip Neri Church; the Continental District Roundtable Commissioner for the Cub Scouts, and an Assistant Scoutmaster for Pennsburg Troop #90. He was a member of Pennsburg Borough Council, a member and past president of Pennsburg Fire Company and a volunteer for the Veterans for Peace.
He is survived by seven children, Carol Bringhurst, of Macungie, Raymond Bringhurst and his wife Mary, of Coopersburg, John Bringhurst and his wife Susan, of Pennsburg, Betsy and her husband Philip Kresge, of Macungie, Barbara Kline, of Allentown, Bob, of Macungie and Tom and his fiancée Gerri Brauckmann, of East Norriton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren with a great-grandchild due soon.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Karl Underkoffler.
