James H. Gardner

James H. Gardner, 73, of Macun-gie, died April 15, 2014, at his residence. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Edwin C. and Anna E. (Romig) Gardner.

He was a U.S Navy veteran.

For many years, he was a professional truck driver for U.N.D.S.

He was active in the Emmaus area V.F.W.; American Legion, where he served as sergeant at arms in the honor guard; Emmaus Catholic War Vets; and was a life member of Emaus Fire Company #1.

He is survived by two daughters, Toni M. and her husband Earl Kromer, of Macungie and Deborah A. Young, of Allentown; two brothers, Peter E. and his wife Donna, of Breinigsville and Edwin C. and his wife Becky, of Quakertown; two sisters, Sandra J. and her husband Lenny Schaefer, of Palmerton and Gail and her husband Jerry Morton, of Summerfield, Fla.; two granddaughters, Annamarie Best and Tara Young; and his companion, Darleen Bower, of Macungie, and pet Brandi.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Larry; a foster brother, Kenneth D. Hilbert; and two sisters, Judith Bailer and Becky Rothrock.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3 to 7 p.m. April 26 at the Emmaus V.F.W., 316 Main St., with military honors beginning 4 p.m.

Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Emmaus American Legion, 721 Furnace St., Emmaus, 18049.
