Physicals, dental exams offered to students
Since the State of Pennsylvania requires all students in sixth and 11th grade to have a physical, and students in grade seven to have a dental check-up, Salisbury High School and Salisbury Middle School are providing the medical services free of charge.
Physicals for students in sixth and 11th grade will be available April 22 and dental exams for students in grade seven will be available April 24 for any students who have not had one this year. Exams will be held during regular school hours.
If you would like your student to receive either of these exams, contact the school nurse at ctripp@ stsd.org.
All Salisbury Township schools will be closed April 18 for spring break. What was once a six day break, has now become a three day weekend thanks to all the snow days we had this winter. But that is okay, because we are still getting out of school June 13 instead of June 18.
PSSA's are almost finished. Students in grades four and eight will take the science assessment April 29 and 30.
Western Salisbury Elementary School has a busy schedule coming up. On April 22, the first grade class will hold its Bunny Hop 1:15 p.m.
April 24 marks the first day of the PTA-sponsored Read-a-thon, with a kick-off assembly 2:30 p.m.
April 25 is the PTA Barnes and Noble Night at the Promenade Shops 6 to 9 p.m. There will be teachers and staff on hand to read to the students along with other activities. If I ask one thing of parents who attend, it would be to please keep track of your children while you are shopping and don't let them run amok. We want to be a good example to the store staff and show other customers our children are future leaders and use the seven habits both in and out of the school building. Support your school and pick out a few good books.
The WSE Grade 3 and chorus spring concert will be held 7 p.m. April 30.
The Salisbury Township Spring 2014 curbside branch collection program is scheduled to take place through April 18. Branches should be placed at the curb. Branches may be no longer than 5 feet long and 5 inches in diameter and should be bundled and tied with twine. Open containers without a lid may be used to hold small branches.
