Liberty sweeps Becahi in track and field
Liberty High School's track and field teams were victorious over Bethlehem Catholic last week when the Hurricane boys defeated the Hawks, 91-58, and the Hurricane girls defeated the lady Hawks, 83-67.
Winners for Liberty's girls were Aleesha Gordon in the 200 dash with a time of 27.4, Casey Harewood in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.1 and the high jump with a height of 5'4, Rashana Tomkins in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.8, Rachel Finn in the pole vault with a height of 10-0, Gabby Pastor in the long jump with a distance of 16-09, Jazmyn Aminu in the shot put with a distance of 30-06, and Sydney Wilson in the discus with a distance of 78-07.
Jaylyne Aminu, Harewood, Kay West, and Abbie Zerbe also won the 4x1 relay with a time of 51.5.
Winners for Liberty's boys were Josiah Wright in the 200 dash with a time of 23.5 and the 400 dash with a time of 53.1, Robert Appleby in the 1600 with a time of 4:59, Will Masemore in the 3200 with a time of 10:52, Isiah Avent in the high jump with a height of 5-09, Julien Guiteau in the pole vault with a height of 8-03, Darius Jones in the triple jump with a distance of 41-10, Denzel Vereen in the shot put with a distance of 45-03, and the discus with a distance of 114-04, and Casey Clearie in the javelin with a distance of 124-09.
Winners for Bethlehem Catholic's girls were Dana Neupauer in the 100 dash with a time of 13.3, Megan Tucker in the 400 dash with a time of 1:01.7, Maggie Melhem in the 800 with a time of 2:37, Kassi Yocco in the 1600 with a time of 5:33, and the 3200 with a time of 12:11, Lauren Posch in the triple jump with a distance of 33-06, and Tess Zamolyi in the javelin with a distance of 100-02.
Neupauer, Posch, Tucker, and Hannah Tanczos placed first in the 4x4 with a time of 4:20.3, and Rowan Pepe, Melhem, Margaret Walter, and Yocco took first place in the 4x8 with a time of 10:56.8.
Winners for Becahi's boys were Freddie Simmons in the 100 dash with a time of 11.1, the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.9, and the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.2, Mike Duffy in the 800 with a time of 2:10, and Elijah Finneran in the long jump with a distance of 20-08.
The Hawks won all three relay events.
Antwon Keenan, Mike McDaniel, Sean Moroney, and Duffy placed first in the 4x1 with a time of 3:35.7, John Spirk, Andrew Shaffer, Moroney, and Duffy won the 4x4 with a time of 3:35.7, and Christian Brill, Eamon Fitzgerald, Ronan Fitzgerald, and Matthew Shaffer took first place in the 4x8 with a time of 8:51.7.
