When girls can do anything boys can do, Wild West gunplay and foreplay get serious in "Annie Get Your Gun," 7:30 p.m. April 24, 25; and 2 and 7:30 p.m. April 26, auditorium, Allentown Central Catholic High School, 301 N. Fourth St., Allentown.
Markswoman Annie Oakley (Abby Creighton) joins Buffalo Bill's "Wild West Show," and it's not just targets she's shooting for. Star of the show Frank Butler's (Anthony DeStefanis; Matt Lo, matinee) heart is her true aim. But in the 1880's, Frank finds it hard to hold hands with a girl who can outshoot him. His big hat gets in the way. The cast includes Abby Garza (Winnie Tate).
Kateri Swavely is director. Charles Hopta is vocal coach. Conductor is Aaron Hetrick. Adrienne Motley is choreographer.
The play starring Ethel Merman opened on Broadway in 1946. The 1950 movie version starred Betty Hutton.
The music and lyrics are by Irving Berlin with the book by Dorothy Fields and her brother Herbert Fields.
Songs include "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Doin' What comes Natur'lly," "The Girl That I Marry," "They Say It's Wonderful," "I Got the Sun in the Morning" and "Anything You Can Do."
