Clarence H. Schiffer, 91 of Whitehall, formerly of Schnecksville, died on March 29, 2014, Fellowship Terrace.
He and his wife Althea E. (Lapp) Schiffer celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last July 12.
Born March 25, 1923, in Lehighton, he was the son of the late Howard O. and Lottie (Heller) Schiffer.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was the co-owner of the former H.O. Schiffer and Sons, Seafood Express, South Whitehall Township, for 38 years before retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the former Vernon G. Kern VFW Post 8344, Schnecksville, serving with the honor guard.
A life member of the Community Fire Co. No. 1, Schnecksville, he received recognition for his work with the Schnecksville Community Fair. He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Dianne S. Heyer and her husband, John, of Orefield, Connie L. Dise and her husband, Kenneth, of Allentown, Gail A. Gerlach and her husband, Russell, of Schnecksville; siblings Arlene Frankenfield and David O. Schiffer and his wife, Sandra, all of Whitehall; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
