North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following fire calls recently.
Water flow alarm
Feb. 8, 12:06 a.m.
North Catasauqua personnel responded to a water flow alarm at 1151 Front St., the former Shefftel building. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found an alarm sounding. After gaining entry to the building, they found the basement flooded with water. Two large-diameter sprinkler pipes had ruptured.
The Catasauqua Fire Department was also on the assignment.
Odor investigation
Feb. 11, 4:52 p.m.
Charotin firefighters were dispatched to 120 Arch St., for an odor investigation. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found someone burning cardboard behind the structure.
Water flow alarm
Feb. 14, 10:50 a.m.
North Catasauqua and Catasauqua personnel were dispatched to 1151 Front St. for a report of a water flow alarm. Firefighters gained access to the structure and, upon searching the premises, found a malfunction in the sprinkler system. The property was secured and referred to the borough's code enforcement officer for follow-up.
Traffic control
Feb. 14, 4:21 p.m.
North Catasauqua fire police were dispatched to an automobile accident at Howertown Road and Grove Street. The fire police assisted in traffic control.
