William J. Fitzgerald, 86, of Germansville died March 22, 2014, in Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown.

He and his wife Mae I. (Roth) Fitzgerald celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary last Aug. 9.

Born Feb. 19, 1928, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Sarah (Feeney) Fitzgerald.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman.

A member of the Steamfitters Union Local 420, he wa a steamfitter foreman from 1974-93.

He attended the United Church of Christ congregation of Ziegels Union Church, Breinigsville.

He was a member of the Northampton Pigeon Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Donna Fitzgerald of Lansdale, Diane McGill of Galloway, N.J., Debra Fitzgerald of Lansdale; son LaVerne G. of Germansville; stepson, Wayne D. Ruppert of Orlando, Fla.; stepdaughter, Peggy L. Evert of Germansville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a stepson, Bruce D. Ruppert and a granddaughter, Rachael L. Evert.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. March 28, at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, with the Rev. Candi L. Cain-Borgman officiating.

Visitation period from 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Interment will be private.
