Ruth H. Reed, 70 of Northampton, died March 14, 2014, at her home.

Born in East Earl, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Newswanger) Reed and step-daughter to the late Anna (Weaver) Reed.

She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Albright College and a master's degree in education from Temple University.

She was employed by Catasauqua Area School District as a school nurse for the middle and senior high schools for 27 years before retiring in 2003.

She was of the Mennonite faith.

She is survived by a companion; Woody Greene of Northampton; three brothers, Harold and his wife Barbara Reed of Lititz, John and his wife Carolyn Reed of Harrisonburg, Va. and Paul and his wife Ethel Reed of Dayton, Va.; two sisters, Dorcas Danner of Hanover and Irene and her husband Jay Zimmerman of Denver; a step-daughter, Leann and her husband Walter Breymier of Northampton; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Anna Mary.
