Grace M. Snyder, 86, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Coopersburg, died on March 19, 2014, in Henrico Doctors' Hospital, Richmond, Va.

She and her husband Ray G. Snyder celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last Aug. 14.

Born Jan. 31, 1928, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Franklin T. and Minnie M. (Reichelderfer) Bower.

After graduating in 1945 from Whitehall High School, from Kutztown State Teacher College in 1948, and Temple University in 1966 with a master's degree, she taught in the Southern Lehigh School District for 36 years before retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepson, Sherwood R. Snyder of Midlothian, Va.; stepdaughters, Edith E. Pleasant of Winston Salem, N.C., April R. Mayers of Ashland, Va.; sister Ruth A. LaFaver of Allentown; 11 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Her memorial service will take place in Richmond. Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
