Exchange Club recognizes January Youth of the Month
The Northampton Exchange Club recently recognized two students as the January Youth of the Month.
The club honored Sarah Fribance and Randy Czankner Jr. at its dinner meeting March 5. The Northampton Area High School seniors were recognized for their academic and extracurricular achievements along with their extensive involvement in the community.
Dr. Rodger Berg, program chairman, praised Sarah and Randy for their "success and excellence."
"You're looking at two of the best," Berg said, adding that the honorees, "are two outstanding seniors."
"Everyone has been given ability, it depends how people use the ability," Berg said. "Take it to the fullest."
Berg mentioned although Albert Einstein didn't fare well in school, he became a success. He quoted Einstein saying, "Try not to be a success, rather be of value."
"Too often students are fearful of failing," Berg added. "Failure can turn to success if you learn from it. Value is when you learn from mistakes. We all have value, if we don't use that, we're cheating ourselves."
Sarah and Randy's families were also recognized for the support and encouragement they provided to their children.
The service to youth committee presented Sarah and Randy with framed certificates.
