Walter R. Lord, 89, of Zionsville, died March 20, 2014, in Valley Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Susan H. (Hale) Lord. Born in Mount Carmel, he was the son of the late Walter O. and Mary (Schober) Lord.

He worked as a tool grinder for the former Bonney Forge and was a clerk for Sears, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville.

He honorably served his country in the Air Force during World War II and was a member of the train collectors organization.

He is survived by daughters, Linda, of Fortine, Mont., Susan and her husband Mark Benjamin, of Old Zionsville and Joan Cressman, of Allentown; grandchildren, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Alexandria, Shalee, Kaitlyn and Austin. He was predeceased by a son, Robert W.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. March 27 in Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville, 18068. Viewing 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 26 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus and 1 to 2 p.m. March 27 in the church.
