Earl A. "Reds" Bower, Sr., 81, of Alburtis, died March 23, 2014, at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Geraldine D. (Kuhns) Bower. They celebrated 60 years of marriage last May. He fought a long hard battle with cancer for the last six years. Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late Harry and Clara (Kaiser) Bower.
Living his entire life in the small borough of Alburtis, he enjoyed stock car racing, working on pit crews, as well as camping with his family and finally spending many years repairing bicycles for the local community children.
He was stationed in Alaska with the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War.
He retired from Allen Organ in 1998 as a supervisor having worked there for 43 years.
He was a member of Cedar United Church of Christ, Cetronia, Alburtis Rod and Gun Club and a past member of the Alburtis Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Earl A. "Buddy" Jr., and his wife Cindy, of Kutztown; Scott A. and his wife Karen, of Cetronia; daughters, Cheryl and her husband Ronald Haring, of Allentown, Crystal and her husband Steven Romano, of Mertztown; brother Billy, of Topton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by six brothers; two sisters; four half brothers and three half sisters.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. March 27 in the Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville. Calling hours, 6 to 8 p.m. March 26 and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. March 27 in the funeral home.
