Domyan new AD at Becahi

Bethlehem Catholic's Mike Grasso is known to be a man full of energy and passion, but even he can get burned out.

Last week, the school officially announced that Grasso will step down from his duties as athletic director and hand over the reigns to Director of Business Administration, Chris Domyan, effective on July 7, 2014.

Grasso will stay on as Dean of Students, head baseball coach and teacher within Becahi, but felt it was time to step away from having athletic director duties as well.

"It's just overwhelming having to do everything," said Grasso, who enters his 39th overall season coaching baseball at Becahi. "As a school, we were looking for someone who can handle the athletic director job on a full-time basis and Chris is a great successor. It was the best move for the school and myself."

Domyan has been with Bethlehem Catholic for four years in his current role and will oversee the business administration side apart of his athletic duties as well. Principal John Petruzzelli likes the new direction Becahi is heading.

"We are pleased to have someone of Chris' caliber to take over the Athletic Department," he said. "As an alum, former athlete and a current parent, Chris is committed to both Bethlehem Catholic and the families of our school. He will provide great leadership to our athletic staff."

Domyan graduated from Becahi in 1994 and was on the golf and basketball teams. Before joining Bethlehem Catholic four years ago, he spent 10 years working with the Allentown Diocese, working with schools and churches on administrative issues.

"It's an exciting time for myself and the school," Domyan said of his appointment. "Mike and I have worked together on a smooth transition process over the course of the year and he's been great. When this opportunity came up, it felt like a good fit for everyone and it's my job to continue the great leadership we already have in place."
