Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church is celebrating a century since its founding on the Southside this month. Coinciding with its namesake's feast day today, the church will open its doors to a special Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Joan Schrei, on the centennial celebration committee, said the community is welcome to attend the Mass. "We had about 400 people last year, so we're expecting at least that this year." She said following Mass a sold-out luncheon will be held at Lehigh University's Mountaintop Campus' Iacocca Hall.

Schrei said local leaders Mayor Bob Donchez, Rep. Charlie Dent (R-15), Rep. Steve Samuelson (D-135), State Sen. Lisa Boscola and Rep. Daniel McNiell (D-133) have confirmed their attendance.

They will be joined by representatives of Slovenia and Bethlehem's sister city Murska Sobota. This includes Murska Sobota Mayor Anton Stihec, Consul General of Slovenia Jure Zmauc and Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia H.E. Bozo Cerar.
