Falzone resigns as football coach

Tom Falzone has resigned as the head football coach at Catasauqua High School after five seasons.

During his five-year tenure at CHS, Falzone led the Rough Rider football program to a 47-18 record, two Colonial League championships, a District 11 championship, a District 11 runner-up and three consecutive victories over Northampton on Thanksgiving Day. The Rough Riders qualified for the District 11 or Eastern Conference playoffs in each of his five seasons as head coach. Falzone was also named the Colonial League Football Coach of the Year in both 2012 and 2013.

"Obviously it is a very difficult day for our school and our community," said Catasauqua Director of Student Activities Thomas Moll. "Coach Falzone and his staff did a fantastic job leading our football program over the past five seasons. It is impossible to put into words what he has meant to our student-athletes, our school and our community.

"The outpouring of community support the past few years, specifically the past two seasons, shows how important the Rough Rider football program is to our community.

"On behalf of our administration, I would like to thank Coach Falzone and his staff for their years of dedicated service to our school district, and wish them the best of luck in their future coaching endeavors."
