Joseph A. Candia, 102, of Macungie, died Feb. 24, 2014, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Helen F. (Scopelliti) Candia. He was born in Palo Alto, Pa.

He was the owner and operator of Candia Motors at 19th and Tilghman streets, Allentown, until retiring in 1973. After retirement, he was the head starter at the Center Valley Golf Club, working there for 20 years, until the club closed right after his 100th birthday.

An avid golfer, he had a total of seven holes-in-one in his lifetime.

He was a graduate of Casey Jones School of Aeronautics as a mechanic.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia E. and her husband John Thatcher, of Hampton, N.J.; sister Augusta Pettinati, of Cherry Hill, N.J.; grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Tom Conway, of Bethlehem, Jennifer and her husband Dennis Marsico, of Winter Garden, Fla. and Tom Hume, of Peach Tree City, Ga.; great-grandchildren Fikire, Emma, Max, Ryan, Connor, Brendan, Andie and Luke.

Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
