John R. Koenig, 79, of Salisbury Township died March 2, 2014, in his home. He was the husband of Rose M. (Haklar) Koenig. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary June 15, 2013. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late John G. and Anna (Pammer) Koenig.
He worked as a forklift operator at the Morning Call for 23 years, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Allentown.
He served his country in the Navy Reserves for eight years.
He is survived by his wife; son John J., Jr. and his wife Sharon, of Salisbury Township; daughter Patricia and her husband Douglas Frederick, of Osceola, Pa.; son-in-law, Brian Miller, of Tamaqua; brother, Richard and his wife Jackie, of Whitehall; sister, Marianne Vorholy, of Wind Gap; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Miller.
Services are private. Arrangements were made by the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
