Harold A. DeRemer

Harold A. DeRemer, 97, of Allentown, died Feb. 1, 2014, at Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Eleanor G. (Billig) DeRemer. They were married 68 years Dec. 24, 2013. Born in Jim Thorpe, he was the son of the late Irvin and Emma (Rabe) DeRemer.

He was an electrical engineer for the former General Electric Co., Allentown, for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He earned his professional engineers license in 1964 and during his tenure with GE he was credited with eight patents.

He was a former member of the former Salem United Church of Christ, Allentown, where he was active with all facets of the church including chairing three pastoral search committees. He was presently a member of St. John's U.C.C., Emmaus.

He served his country as a Warrant Officer Junior Grade in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife; son, Rev. Dr. David H. and his wife Kathy, of Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Amy and her husband Shawn Silvoy, of Bethlehem and Christopher and his wife Siobhan, of Allentown. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
