Mayor Bob Donchez's recent inaugural ball came in under-budget by an extra $1,378.23, which he decided to donate to the city. In his conference room Feb. 28 police and organizers joined Donchez for some brief comments and thanks as two oversized checks - each for $700 - were displayed. The money is going to the police mounted unit and the Boys and Girls Club of the Southside.
