The following calls were among those responded to during the month of January by North Catasauqua Fire Department volunteer firefighters.

Structure fire

Jan. 4, 9:38 a.m.

North Catasauqua firefighters were dispatched to a high-occupancy structure fire along with Northampton, Allen Township and East Allen Township fire departments. The working fire was reported at Sacred Heart Assisted Living, 602 E. 21 St., Northampton.

The Northampton fire chief arrived on the scene and found the fire to be a cooking fire. With the exception of Northampton, all other units were recalled.

Kitchen fire

Jan. 5, 3:58 a.m.

North Catasauqua firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at 1013 Third St., North Catasauqua, along with the Catasauqua Fire Department and Northampton Regional EMS.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found a fire at the back door that was out on arrival. The fire was caused by cigarette smoking materials that ignited materials stored at the back door. No injuries were reported and the property was turned back to the resident.
