In continuation of its Bob Warke–Dale Horn Scholarship Program, The Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the basketball tournament, whose proceeds are used to fund the scholarship awards.

The Bob Warke–Dale Horn Basketball Tournament will be at the Whitehall-Coplay Middle School March 2. To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a class of 2014 high school eligible graduate, be continuing your education in the fall of 2014, you must have participated in the organization's baseball, softball or basketball youth programs and you must complete the scholarship application form and return by Feb. 28. Additional requirements are listed on the application and the website. The organization will review the applications and select one girl and one boy to receive the scholarships.

AARP personnel are assisting individuals with tax preparation until April 15, at Faith Lutheran Church. They are available by appointment, which must be made in person, Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-noon. If schools are closed because of snow, tax prep will also be closed.
