School board hires coaches
The hiring of two coaches and the resignation of one coach has been accepted by the Northampton Area School District School Board.
Michael Glassic was recently hired as assistant baseball coach, with 80 percent experience and 50 percent of the assistant coach stipend, for a total compensation of $1,917.60, no benefits, pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA effective for the 2013-14 school year.
Stefani Kerbacher was hired as assistant softball coach, with 80 percent experience and 50 percent of the assistant coach stipend, for a total compensation of $1,917.60, no benefits, pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and NAEA for the 2013-14 school year.
Craig Landis resigned as assistant boys volleyball coach, effective Jan. 14.
At the regular Jan. 27 meeting, the NASD school board also voted to approve, at the recommendation of the administration, Candice Pinto, as short-term substitute special education teacher at Northampton Area High School, effective on or about Feb. 24 through the end of the 2013-14 school year, at the hourly rate of $18.02, without benefits; Colleen Satkowski, as short-term substitute reading specialist at Moore Elementary School, effective on or about March 10 through the end of the 2013-14 school year, at the hourly rate of $18.02, without benefits; and Ronald Morey, Jr., as custodian at Northampton Area Middle School, effective Jan. 28, with a base rate of $16.54 per hour, 80 percent of the hourly rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local 773; and Jeremy Vernon, as skilled maintenance employee, effective on or about Jan. 28, with a base rate of $22.66 per hour, 90 percent of the hourly rate, with benefits, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NASD and Teamsters Local 773.
Extracurricular staff members and stipends were also approved as follows for the second semester of the 2013-14 school year including Suzanne Ott, as head teacher, Siegfried Elementary School (Feb. 18 to April 25), $765 and Carol Cunningham, as head teacher, Siegfried (Jan. 24 to Feb. 13 and April 28 to June 5), $765.
Approved as well were extracurricular staff members and stipends for the 2013-14 school year including Rachel Fisher, yearbook advisor, middle school (100 percent), $1,936; Melissa Jamicky, student council advisor, middle school (100 percent), $2,571; Suzanne Rockovits, yearbook advisor, Lehigh Elementary School (75 percent), $630; Jennifer Fulfaro, yearbook advisor, Lehigh (25 percent), $210; and Carolyn Albright, Environmental Club, Lehigh (100 percent), $840.
Additions to the district volunteer master listing for the 2013-14 school year were also approved including Ian Diehl, athletic; Craig Landis, athletic; and Laura Tiers, George Wolf Elementary School.
Robert Britton was approved as an addition to the athletic event staff for the 2013-14 school year as scoreboard operator (Wrestling). Also, the resignation of Stefanie Shockley dated Jan. 9 was approved by the board.
