Sheckler Elementary School has implemented a school improvement plan.
Principal Eric Dauberman presented the results of the plan at the Feb. 3 Catasuauqua Area School Board meeting.
"We have recognized kids by classroom performance," Dauberman said. "We recognized the top 15 to 20 percent of kids."
According to Dauberman, school administration met with teachers Jan. 28-30 and visited individual classrooms Jan. 30 and 31.
Dauberman said the plan analyzes and breaks down the top 10 questions missed on recent standardized tests to allow teachers to hone in on the questions. It also looks at the least-missed questions.
The data is broken down by grade level, individual student and question.
Dauberman also said the school recognizes the top student in each class as a means to motivate each student. Individual Study Island messages are also sent to students as a way to encourage and improve student performance.
"We thought this was a great way to find patterns and drive data forward," Dauberman said. "It's a lot of data but I think it's useful. It really gives the teachers a lot of data."
Dauberman said the school intends to use the generated data the next six weeks to improve student performance.
District Superintendent Robert Spengler said Dauberman presented the results in a meaningful and purposeful manner.
