Carl D. Yoder

Carl D. Yoder, 80, of Fullerton, died Feb. 11, 2014, in Sacred Heart Hospital.

A son of the late John K. and Marie F. (Minnich) Yoder, he was born in Allentown.

He and his wife Arline E. (Kahn) Yoder were married 58 years.

A faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Fullerton, he sang with the chancel choir for more than 25 years.

A 1950 graduate of Allentown High School, he was a maintenance and construction supervisor with UGI for more than 43 years, before retiring in 1998.

He proudly served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, and was a member of the honor guard with the 1st Infantry in Normandy escorting the eternal flame. He was a member of Fullerton American Legion Post 367.

Dedicating his life to Scouting, he served as Scoutmaster for Troop 63 at his church, was chairman of the district training and program committees, and received numerous awards including the Silver Beaver award, four Wood Badge beads, and Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Gordon A. and life partner, Diana Schreiber, of Kempton, Dale A. and his wife, Laura, of Lebanon, and Samuel A. and wife, Adele, of Nazareth; brother Robert K. Yoder in Utah; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by son Daniel R. in 2008 and a sister Jean D. Shoemaker.

Arrangements were made by Gilbert Funeral Home, Whitehall.
