WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN
The date of graduation for the Class of 2014 has been moved to 6 p.m. June 11 at Symphony Hall. The nine snow days we have accumulated this year have unfortunately made that a necessity. Hopefully, this big storm will be the end of it and we can start to thaw out.
Spring athletic practices are scheduled to begin March 3, and I have no idea how that is going to happen when it seems like we won't see grass for another month, and when we do it will be a muddy mess.
The Salisbury Middle School Interact Club is hosting their third annual dance-a-thon 7 p.m. Feb. 28 to 7 a.m. March 1. This event is raising money for Lehigh Valley Health Network's Prager Patient Assistance Fund and Dream Come True.
Mid-marking for the SMS third marking period will be March 5.
Western Salisbury Elementary has a lot going on these next two weeks.
The first grade students are making their Lincoln log cabins out of graham crackers and icing Feb. 21 in conjunction with Presidents Day. I remember my boys wanting to eat theirs when we brought it home, not realizing that it sat in the display case in the school lobby for a month. Yuck!
Kindergarten registration is being held 9:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 26. If there is anyone in your neighborhood with children ready for kindergarten, please pass this information on to them.
The WSE PTA will hold a general PTA meeting 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20 with Superintendent Michael Roth scheduled to attend. The Gertrude Hawk candy orders are due back to school Feb 27. Also on Feb. 27, the PTA read-a-thon will begin. The PTA is hosting a roller skating party 6 to 8 p.m. Feb 28 at Independence Fun Skate.

The last thing on the agenda for WSE is the parent lunch for second grade students and their families March 4. Lunch starts 11:25 a.m. and since I am a monitor for second grade lunch, I will put this out there one more time: French fries are my FAVORITE!! Hint, hint, wink, wink.
There is an operations committee meeting 7 p.m. March 3 at the administration building.
In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, I will quote my sons' favorite line from "Oh, the Thinks you can Think!"
"Schlopp. Schlopp. Beautiful schlopp. Beautiful schlopp with a cherry on top." -Dr. Seuss "
