Area grad completes boot camp; earns promotion

Brittney Vella, a 2013 graduate of Emmaus High School, completed basic training recently and was awarded a meritorious promotion at graduation.

Vella was sent to Camp Geiger, N.C. for further training.

Area grad completes basic

training

Air Force Airman Zachary M. Scaffidi, a 2013 graduate of Emmaus High School, recently completed basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program including training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Scaffidi earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Scaffidi is the son of Michele Brinker and John Scaffidi, both of Macungie.
