Edward M. Matika, 73, of Emmaus, died Feb. 16, 2014, surrounded by his family, in his home. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Gaugler) Matika. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage on Feb. 12. Born in Hokendauqua, he was the son of the late Michael G. and Angela (Stelzman) Matika.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus.
He was a graduate of Whitehall High School, class of 1958 and served in the U.S. Navy.
He was employed as a supervisor in the clean room at the former Western Electric and AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1995 and was a pitcher for the AT&T Demons softball team. After retiring, he worked part time at Sears Hardware and the Tractor Supply store, both in Trexlertown.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, bowled in the Coopersburg Men's Bowling League and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife; children, Douglas E. and his wife Lori, of Macungie, Scott A. and his wife Karen, of Hellertown, and Stacey A. and her husband Tim Schmoyer, of Woodstock, Va.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m Feb. 21, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A visitation will be held form 9 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 21 in the funeral home.
